Summer Energy Saving Tips

Our ultimate goal at Advanced Comfort Solutions is to save you as much money as possible while still keeping your home comfortable. We all know that the summer heat usually means an increase in AC usage, which means higher energy bills and less money for you! We have complied some energy saving tips and the most common home upgrades you can do with your home to keep it cool and comfortable this summer.

Open your windows:

Makes sense right? Crack open the windows at night to help cool your home by releasing the heat that can build up during the day. Easy, simple tip.

Use Fans:

  • Don’t just rely on the energy hungry A/C! According to Southern California Edison, using  fans can save you up to $200 in 6 months. Consider installing a ceiling fan in rooms with ceilings at least 8 feet high to circulate cool air around the room.
  • Portable fans are also a good idea. They are energy efficient and can be moved around your home to where they are needed.
  • Using fans can help you keep you thermostat higher, you might find yourself using you’re A/C much less or not at all. Just remember to turn off fans when you leave the room. Keeping them on will not cool down the room.

Limit the opening and reopening of refrigerators

Avoid warming up your home

  • Lights and other appliances such as ovens, dishwashers and even TV’s can add unwanted heat. Make sure to turn off anything that is not being used.

Avoid using appliances during peak hours: 

  • Use your dishwasher, clothes washer & dryer, and other appliances after 6 p.m.

Keep the sunlight and heat out by closing shades and drapes

Running you’re A/C:

Sometimes it’s just too hot and the only way to completely keep your house comfortable is to use the air conditioner. But are you wasting more energy to run it than you should be? Having your A/C system running at peak efficiency is crucial if you want to avoid your electric bill to skyrocket.

  • Make sure you have check and change you’re A/C systems air filter. clean the permanent filters on your AC unit on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure you have your AC ducts tested and sealed by ACS technicians. Properly sealed air ducts can save you money.
  • Raise your thermostat up or turn it off when you are not home and save 5-15% off your energy bill.
  • Good insulation can help you keep the cool air in allowing you to raise the temperature setting without sacrificing comfort
